Napoli Salame

Description

Napoli Salame, also referred to as salame napoletano, is a traditional Italian cured meat from the Campania region, specifically from the city of Naples. Its origins are ancient, dating back to the Roman era, but it was during the 18th century that Napoli Salame achieved widespread renown, thanks to its exceptional quality and unique flavor profile.

One of the interesting characteristics of Napoli Salame is its shape, which is slightly more elongated compared to other Italian cured meats like Milano Salame or Felino Salame. According to tradition, this design allowed the salami to be easily packed and carried by shepherds during their long seasonal migrations (transumanza).

Numerous local variations exist depending on the production area and specific regional recipes; regardless of the variant, it remains a product of exceptional quality, standing as a true excellence of Campanian and Italian culinary tradition.
